FAQ
-
In simple terms, to reduce the noise produced in a building’s pipework from waste and water discharge. With the majority of new multi storey builds, the expectation from clients is that PVC pipework will have acoustic lagging installed.
-
Absolutely. What we find is Plumbers generally don't like installing acoustic lagging and when they do it themselves the job usually falls on to the apprentice. Acoustic lagging needs to be installed by professionals for it to achieve the full potential of its sound deadening properties. We can install acoustic lagging at a much faster rate than most plumbers - as we do it daily.
-
The plumbing firms we work with have recognised that using PLS rather than their own employees results in faster installation and less product wastage. Acoustic lagging work is completed on time and is more cost effective for the plumber. We receive regular feedback from plumbers and clients surprised at how efficient our installation service is. What can take an apprentice plumber a couple of weeks to complete is often achieved by us in days.
-
Acoustic lagging comes supplied in a roll (much like a small roll of carpet). We cut the product to the required size and shape and then wrap the lagging around the outside of the PVC pipe. The lagging is attached using aluminium foil tape. Specialist trained installers are required to maximise the soundproofing qualities of the lagging.
-
We are able to supply & install, or do an install only when our client wants to supply the acoustic lagging themselves.
-
We charge on a per lineal metre rate.
-
Short answer is yes we do. The majority of the work we undertake is on a supply and install basis. We do offer an install only service at a customers request.
We use and recommend Thermobreak insulation sold by Ultralon.
